What God Wants You to Know About Trusting Him in the Dark

Who among you fears the Lord and obeys his Servant? If such men walk in darkness, without one ray of light, let them trust the Lord, let them rely upon their God. Isaiah 50:10

What God Wants You to Know About Trusting Him in the Dark

Seasons of darkness. They come to everyone, even to the faithful who try to walk in obedience.

When God’s “No” or “Not yet” ushers in darkness, Isaiah says that turning TO God, instead of away from Him, is only path to peace.

But we can’t turn to someone unless we trust them. And we can’t trust someone unless we know them.

God pursues us in our darkness and pleads for us to take the first step of trust and just come KNOW Him. He wants us to meditate on His precious I-will-never-leave-you promises birthed from a Father’s love. His promises are more real and solid than our roller coaster emotions through which we interpret our lives.

Jesus asks us to come to Him like a little child because children trust their parents—even though they may not understand their reasoning. We don’t understand the reasons for our circumstances, but it doesn’t mean there ARE no reasons. They’re simply hidden from us right now.

Maybe you stare at your reflection every morning and wonder how you got to this place. Maybe what you knew is gone forever and you’re sleepwalking through a thick fog you never saw coming. At those times you must have faith the sun, moon, and stars are still out there and God is faithfully in control.

The Enemy tries to wear you down, whispering darkness into your mind. But you must listen for God’s whisper of hope. He is hard at work creating a mission especially for YOU. You, with all your failures and your false starts. You have supernatural strength on your side.

Sometimes you feel you can’t take another step, but trust is a muscle which grows as it’s used. You don’t have to be perfect or do it right. Commit your darkness to God every day. Stay faithful.

Keep sowing your seeds where you are. God wants to see your faithfulness during your famine. He wants you trust him in times of plenty AND in the dark. The blessings will come. Faithfulness always leads to fruitfulness.

Jesus’ Message:

Child, the future scares you, but you’re picturing it without me.

I know you are bone-weary. I know the demands on your time and talent. And I know the lies the enemy tells you. Anxiety wakes you up in the middle of the night, and it is a merciless bed-fellow.

Understand that your darkness is not a surprise to Me. Fierce love molded it, but fierce love abides with you in the middle of this storm. So I say to you, fear not—this battle is not yours.

It is Mine.

I may lead you through dark tunnels, but I am holding your right hand. Feel the scars and know I am intimately acquainted with what you go through every day.

Shut your eyes to your circumstances, open your heart, and put one foot in front of the other. Just do the next right thing, and I will lead you out of the tunnel into your beautiful future.

With your own eyes you will see your Teacher.

When the time is perfect, and when My work in you is perfected, I will personally set you on your feet—on higher ground than you could have ever achieved without this Hard Thing.

You will recognize how you have changed, how your edges have softened, and how the things you thought were so important have faded into the background.

This adversity is creating in you a powerful legacy. Daughter, trust Me in the dark, and your test will become a powerful testimony.
